M&M hopes for quick Aston Martin deal

Aston Martin, purveyors of fast cars to a fictional British spy and to real-life billionaires, could be partly owned by Mahindra and Mahindra by the end of the week if the Mumbai tractor moguls have their way.

But much is unclear as the British maker of James Bond's sports cars, its Kuwaiti owner and a rival Italian bidder keep their own counsel. "There are a lot of moving parts here," a person with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Monday, adding the Mahindras hoped to strike a deal this week.

M&M Q2 net beats forecast, up 22% to Rs 902 cr

Country's largest utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra  's (M&M) net profit rose by higher than expected 22.3 percent to Rs 902 crore in the second quarter of FY13, helped by other income.

Net sales grew by 31 percent to Rs 9,659 crore from Rs 7,360 during the same period, which was slightly above expectations.

Analysts on an average had estimated net profit of Rs 820 crore on net sales of Rs 9,600 crore for the quarter.

M&M in top gear on robust January sales

Mahindra & Mahindra gained 1.98% to Rs 685.30 at 15:12 IST on BSE after total automotive sales rose 22% at 44,717 in January 2012 over January 2011.

The announcement was made during market hours today, 1 February 2012.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 83.27 points, or 0.48% to 17,276.82
